There is a 200+ year of science fiction stories about humanoids and robots of various types. Frankenstein is viewed by many as the first of the genre. it began as a recreational challenge to write a short story. The 16 year old Mary Shelly, inspired by a recent article about a dead frog moving when stimulated by electricity wrote about a human being "reborn" with electricity. The story was so well liked by her social group that she was encouraged and mentored to expand it to a book which was published in 1818 when she was 18. When you think of all the robot, android and humanoid movies you have seen, remember they were born of the science of the 1800's by the young Mary Shelly.
