Bio:
I have been a professional Scenic /Projection Designer for Theatrical productions for two decades. I have primarily served as the Resident Designer (i.e., Scenic and/or Projections Designer) within several academic institutions. I served in this capacity within the Stephen F. Austin School of Theatre and Dance (2017-2023). I served in the same capacity with the University of North Texas School of Dance and Theatre (2007-2013). I served in the same capacity as Associate Professor of Scene Design/Projection Design within the Alabama State University School of Theatre and Dance (2013-2016). And I was the interim Technical Director at TWU (2017).
I have been an exhibiting artist since 1990. I earned an MFA from UCLA in 1988 in Studio Art/Installation. Therafter, I began working in Los Angeles in the entertainment industry, initially in fabrication (construction and props). However, I made a place for myself in the industry as a professional scenic artist (South Coast Repertory, The Old Globe-San Diego, and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, among others). Approximately a decade later, I earned a second MFA in Theatrical Design and Digital Imaging from UC Irvine. From 1995 to 2005, I taught in Art Programs in California colleges and universities. From 2005 to 2023, I began teaching Theatrical Design at various universities around the country, primarily in the South and Southwest. In all that time, I continued working as an exhibiting artist (Painting as well as Digital Imaging and Experimental Video).
I have made short videos (movies) and/or video support as supplements for theatrical productions. I am somewhat adept at video editing and sound editing. I can serve as a production designer, location scout, builder/fabricator of theatrical properties, as well as typical or unique scenic elements for film and stage.

Production Design. Scenic Painting and/or Scenic fabrication. Properties Design & Construction.Video editing. Assistant video editor.
My secondary skill might be as a second camera operator, or as a Location Scout, or as an Extra. I would be pleased to be a Crew member (installation). I would be pleased and honored to serve as a PA. I am looking for some over-hire work. However, I would be very pleased to serve as a volunteer on a crew or crews.
I may be able to film and edit video -- but I need some real-time experience working with crews in any capacity as a collaborator. It is easy to make art videos or experimental works. But to make a legitimate film with any real or practical commercial appeal, there must be a sense of industry protocols in place. If folks are interested in my experience in exchange for my gaining real-world experience that will support your project, then please contact me. I have intentionally opened up my days for the opportunity. I will be moving back to Dallas Sept 1, 2025.
